Workshop 1: Science and Global Health Diplomacy to Preventing and Tackling Pandemics: Opportunities and Challenges for One Health
Date & Time: Tuesday, May 3, 2022, 11:00
The COVID-19 pandemic proved that humans, animals, and the environment are all interconnected, and our society and governance systems are vulnerable to the emergence of infectious diseases. Through One Health, the role of science and global health diplomacy can be strengthened and re-envisioned to prevent, prepare and respond to emerging epidemics and pandemics. The workshop will provide better understanding on how science-diplomacy strategies related to One Health could help in reinforcing cooperation among nations and sectors for improved pandemic prevention, preparedness and response.

Workshop 2: Recommendations to update the WHO classification of Digital Health interventions
Date & Time: Tuesday, May 3, 2022, 11:00
During the last meeting, the working group on the Update of the WHO Classification of Digital Health interventions discussed some first insights on the current use of the Classification gained from the work of two collaborators who had investigated data from the Digital Health Atlas (DHA). It seems that some entries in the DHA are labelled as belonging to an extensive number of classes, which led to a discussion on the granularity of the classification.

Workshop 3: Building a recommendation system for a Global Health network
Date & Time: Tuesday, May 3, 2022, 16:00
The “recommender systems” working group is meeting regularly to design an interactive networking platform to be used during the Geneva Health Forum. The new system will recommend events to attend and people to meet. As the goal is to promote collaboration, the group is also considering the idea of extending it beyond the conference. The group is meeting monthly to discuss different aspects related to the platform such as data privacy, deployment plan and communication plan.

Workshop 4: How to develop a sustainable pharmaceutical distribution in African countries?
Date & Time: Wednesday, May 4, 2022, 11:00
The working group seeks to analyze the most appropriate Drug Supply Organizations (DSOs) models suitable for African countries. The group, which meets once a month, aims to know whether the cooperative strategies, particularly pharmacy cooperative models, are ideal for improving access to medicines in African Countries or if other models should be explored. All this is realized through the case studies elaboration from different sectors and countries and possibly evolving an optimal scenario of developing a sustainable pharmaceutical distribution in African countries.

Workshop 5: Improving access of children to surgical care in Africa
Date & Time: Wednesday, May 4, 2022, 11:00
The main goal of this workshop is mapping of the variables affecting access to expert surgical care in the African continent with experts, policy makers, insurers and investors to propose solutions for tackling this vital topic. The “Improving Access to Surgical care in Africa” working group is meeting regularly to solve significant gaps in the provision of surgical care in low- and middle-income countries. Issues related to neonates with congenital gastrointestinal problems requiring surgical intervention in Nigeria are the primary focus and the group wishes to contribute with concrete solutions to ease those pain points. Various stakeholders from the Federal Ministry of Health of Nigeria, Paediatric Surgeons & Anaesthetists associations, the private sector, Non-Profit Organisations, and insurance companies (AXA) are fully engaged in that project.

Workshop 6: What training should we build for One Health/Planetary Health?
Date & Time: Wednesday, May 4, 2022, 14:00
One Health or Planetary Health approaches are increasingly being used to address health problems. These new perspectives require new knowledge but also new working methods that require multidisciplinary teamwork. Masters and PhD courses are being developed around the themes of One Health/Global Health in both rich and resource-poor countries. The aim of the workshop is to share experiences between different initiatives and to see what synergies could be created to facilitate the development of such courses.

Workshop 7: How can we improve the access to Mental Health Care in Asia?
Date & Time: Thursday, May 5, 2022, 11:00
Through the “Improving Access to Mental Health Care in Asia” workshop, the GHF, in collaboration with other allies will shed light on issues such as lack of appropriate care, limited access to mental health care, and mental health-related stigma in many parts of the Asia-Pacific region. Firstly, the main problems, demographics, and clinical data will be mapped out in Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. Secondly, concrete solutions will be designed to tackle those issues. A Panel Discussion will be held to discuss the situation and the best list of actions for the aforementioned countries.

Workshop 8: Swiss Women’s Health Alliance
Date & Time: Thursday, May 5, 2022, 14:00
A leading group of various actors, including scientists in women’s sexual and reproductive health and gender equality and human rights advocates has been working on the design of the Swiss Women’s Health Alliance. The alliance will forge a community of key Swiss-based actors in the global women’s health field that regularly convenes to exchange and collaborate on key and emerging global health issues and other gender-related challenges impacting women’s overall health and wellbeing.
